The Noelene Taylor Dancers was established in 1994 in Ferntree Gully, Victoria, by our principal, Noelene Taylor — of course!
Noelene danced as soon as she walked. Her early years began at a dance school in Bunyip, Victoria.
Throughout her teens, Noelene performed in Light Opera musicals and was trained in classical ballet, tap and jazz (called “modern jazz” then).
Noelene’s dance teaching career started as a teenager. This culminated in achieving her Diploma and since 1994, she has taught and run NTD, The Noelene Taylor Dancers, which has become a staple of many local Knox families’ lives.
What can we say about everyone’s adored teacher, Anna?
Having been with NTD for over 15 years, Anna teaches our Inters, Seniors and Advanced classes — and has taught the Juniors, too, in years gone by. Basically, if you have danced with NTD for more than a few years since 2005, you have probably had Anna as one of your teachers by now!
As well as coming up with amazing and unique choreography that challenges and unites our students, Anna brings her enthusiastic energy and dazzling smile to every class.
And if this weren’t enough, somehow amongst this incredible journey with us at NTD, Anna has managed to produce three beautiful young boys with barely a break!
To put it in frank terms, without Georgia there simply would not be an NTD Dance School!
It was through Georgia’s insatiable passion for movement and dance that her mum, Noelene, saw the need for a unique school in the Knox area… and that is how NTD was realised!
Georgia has danced since she was 4, a love that was bolstered when she achieved a HD on her solo Tap exams age 13 and began teaching when she was just 16. She has also danced and competed in (and won!) many dance competitions over the past 20+ years.
With many years of amateur stage productions under her belt, including Annie and The Wizard Of Oz, Georgia’s love of stage performance spans not only dance but also singing and acting.
For the past 10 years, Georgia has helped run NTD both as a teacher in the junior school and, more recently since the birth of her daughter, Ruby, in 2018, helping to run the administrative side of the School. This includes organising the all-important rehearsal bookings and costume procurement for the end of year Showcase.
Madison has been dancing since she was 3, for the past 10 of those years at Rowville Ballet Academy.
Having performed the styles of jazz, hip hop, broadway jazz, lyrical, contemporary and ballet (Cecchetti trained), and of course not to mention tap, Madison brings an extensive wealth of knowledge on technique and choreography.
She has competed in many competitions, her most recent one being the KAR National competition.
Not only has Madison been in many school productions, such as Seussical, Annie, Hairspray and Rock Of Ages, she has also performed in Hogg School Musical, Aladdin and Puss In Boots with her theatre company in recent years.
We are incredibly excited to have Madison on our NTD team in 2020. Please extend a warm welcome to Madi as she joins us on Mondays teaching the Junior Jazz/HH/Tap and Inter Ballet students.
Our Parent Volunteers
We are blessed with some fantastic volunteers at NTD Dance School who help to make our performances and the year run smoothly — we can’t thank them all enough.
At NTD we recognise that our beautiful students who we are so proud of come from the amazing families who are nurturing them. We know we sometimes have untapped talent out there in our parent community so if you feel you may have something to contribute, from Cattle Call parents on concert/performance days to helping with costume procurement (and everything in between), we invite you to reach out to your child’s teacher or contact us. We may just need your help this year!
Belinda is our cherished Stage Manager. Her calm and experienced presence behind the curtains side stage helps to make us all look good on Concert Day each November. Belinda danced as a student for many years with NTD when she was a youngster herself. Now, her teenage daughter carries on that passion for dance and has also been with the school for almost as long as she could walk!
Kirrily’s daughter has been with NTD since 2012 and with no sign of her stopping dance, Kirrily reached out in 2018 to offer her skills with design and marketing to help create a web presence that complements our much-loved little dance school. Her drive for building community and representing NTD in its best light is what helps keep our web and Facebook spaces ticking along, and we thank her for this contribution.
