Noelene Taylor — Principal

The Noelene Taylor Dancers was established in 1994 in Ferntree Gully, Victoria. We welcome new students of all ages, beginning with the introduction of unchoreographed movement set to music for children as young as 18 months.

Noelene’s philosophy has always been for NTD to offer dance classes for those who want to learn choreographed dances “for the pure enjoyment of it”.

In this manner, the dance school she has successfully run for over 25 years prides itself on nurturing a creative, supportive, non-competitive environment amongst students who simply love to dance.

Over time, the dancers build strong team bonds in this inclusive environment.

Our school is affiliated with the State Dance Association (SDA) which holds dance competitions throughout the year for those wishing to further their passion for dance in this area. SDA also conducts an annual dance camp during the 1st term school holidays. NTD students who wish to participate are supported and encouraged to extend their love of dance through these outlets.

Weekly Classes

Our teachers are experienced in teaching skilful choreography which both challenges and develops students’ performance confidence and dance skills.

Depending on the dance styles available for the age group and the interest of the individual, it is not unusual for our students to commit to upwards of 2.5-3 hours or more across a number of classes which makes the Noelene Taylor Dancers an enjoyable fitness regime or “sport” during their busy week. Our older students, in particular, find their dance classes a welcome stress-reliever from juggling their studies and other after-school commitments.

You can see a full list of classes and times offered in the current year at the bottom of this page.

Performances

A couple of times throughout the year, we may occasionally conduct select performances to promote the dance school. These are usually performed locally at school fairs or other community events and are typically only required of the age 10+ classes (Inters, Seniors and Advanced). They are fun and enjoyable for the students who take the opportunity to enhance their on-stage performance techniques in an encouraging environment.

While this is a voluntary opt-in, NTD encourages students to attend these one-off performances when requested as it helps to build individuals’ commitment, rapport and pride in working together as a team representing the Noelene Taylor Dancers.

End Of Year Showcase

Our high quality production concert (on a shoestring budget!) is the students’ performance highlight. Held annually in mid-November and showcases the hard work our teachers and students have put in throughout the year.  We receive great feedback from parents, grandparents, relatives and friends that our concert format is entertaining, enjoyable and keeps the crowds coming back year after year.

Prospective students and their families are more than welcome to attend the November concert, concert times and ticket details can be found on Facebook and our website from the beginning of Term 4 each year.
